『Anping Old Street』
Tainan Anping Old Street (Yanping Street, Zhongxing Street, and Xiaozhong Street) is known as the 'First Street in Taiwan'. It is the first street built by the Dutch in Taiwan over 300 years ago. The busiest section, Yanping Street, was widened in 1995, so its historical atmosphere is relatively weak. Instead, Zhongxing Street and Xiaozhong Street are better preserved and more suitable for exploring history and seeking tranquility.
 
『Chihkan Tower』
The predecessor of Tainan Chihkan Tower was Fort Provintia, built by the Dutch in 1652. Along with Anping Fort, it is one of the two major historical sites in Tainan and a must-visit pilgrimage site when in Tainan. The actual Fort Provintia was already destroyed during the Qing Dynasty; what we see today is composed of the Sea God Temple, Wenchang Pavilion, and some remnants of the original Fort Provintia.
Admission tickets for Tainan historical sites are at a uniform price. Tickets for Chihkan Tower, Anping Fort, Anping Tree House, and Eternal Golden Castle are all NT$50 for general admission and NT$25 for concession tickets.
Those who do not qualify for the concession price (students, police and firefighters, people aged 65 and over...)
 
『Anping Fort』
In the early 17th century, the Dutch, with a combined military and merchant force, occupied present-day Anping in 1624 and built Fort Zeelandia as their defensive stronghold, with all construction completed in 1634. After Koxinga took the Dutch fort in 1662, it was renamed Anping Town, the inner fort was renamed the Inner Mansion, and the Taiwanese people thus called it the Royal City. During the Qing Dynasty, it lost its importance due to the silting of the Taijiang Inland Sea, and because Qing soldiers destroyed Fort Zeelandia to build the Eternal Golden Castle, it gradually fell into ruin. It was rebuilt after the Japanese colonial period and has been called 'Anping Fort' since World War II. Currently, the only remaining relic from the Dutch period is the brick wall of the southern section of the outer fort in front of the fort. The tangled roots of old banyan trees witness the vicissitudes of nearly 400 years of history in Taijiang.
 
『Anping Tree House』
The Tree House is located behind the Tait & Co. Merchant House. It was originally a warehouse for the Tait & Co. Merchant House, built around the end of the 19th century and the early Japanese colonial period. This place once served as a warehouse for the 'Dainippon Salt Industry Co., Ltd.' branch office, and its current scale is the result of additions made by the Japanese.
After more than a hundred years of vicissitudes, the warehouse walls are covered with the aerial roots of banyan trees. The dense canopy of the towering banyan trees seems to have become the roof of the warehouse, giving the Anping Tree House a rare appearance and a mysterious atmosphere, forming a unique spectacle of house-tree symbiosis, similar to the 'Ta Prohm Temple' in Angkor Wat, which is entwined by large trees.
 
『Eternal Golden Castle』
Located in Jincheng Village, Tainan City, near Anping, the Eternal Golden Castle is the first Western-style fort on the island of Taiwan and the first fort equipped with 'Armstrong Guns', which can be called an epoch-making milestone in the history of Taiwan's forts. The Eternal Golden Castle was historically known as the 'Erkun-shen Fort' and is also called the 'Sankun-shen Fort'. The so-called Erkun-shen refers to the sandbar islands that used to line the west coast of the Taijiang Inland Sea. At that time, Anping Fort was located at Yikun-shen, and the Eternal Golden Castle was located at Erkun-shen. However, due to the silting of the harbor, the sandbars gradually connected. The reason for its construction at the time was to deal with the Japanese invasion of Taiwan. The Eternal Golden Castle was paid for by the Chinese, designed by French designers, and used British and German cannons and American rifles during combat, making it very Western-influenced!
 
『Tainan Art Museum』
The art and cultural district of the prefecture city has finally been completed! Following the renovation and opening of Tainan Art Museum Building 1 last year, Building 2, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, was finally completed on the eve of the 2019 Lunar New Year. An old building overflowing with the elegant style of the old era meets another white art cluster that implements the master's consistent pursuit of natural minimalism, highlighting the new energy of art in the ancient capital!
Unlike Building 1, which was restored from the 86-year-old Tainan Police Station, Building 2 is located at the site of the 1920s Tainan Shrine. In the past, the Haidong Academy, Tainan Museum, and the still-preserved Confucius Temple were built here, making it the cultural and educational center of Tainan. Currently, the new Building 2 is built on the site of the Gong 11 underground parking lot and park. It was jointly designed by Taiwanese architect Shih Chao-yung and Shigeru Ban Architects (SBA). The overall design uses the imagery of boxes stacked at different angles to create many semi-outdoor spaces for the building. This shaded outdoor platform not only blocks direct sunlight but also provides ventilation, offering the public more opportunities to enjoy the surrounding greenery.
 
『Chimei Museum』
Tainan Chimei Museum was founded by Mr. Shi Wen-long and officially opened in 1992. It moved to the Tainan Metropolitan Park Museum area in 2014 and reopened in 2015. It is the most abundant and prestigious private museum in Taiwan. The entire museum covers an area of 9.5 hectares, and its architectural style integrates classical elements such as Roman and Greek, making it magnificent and grand, as if one had arrived at the White House in the United States. The plaza is themed around Greek mythology, adding a romantic exotic style to the lush Tainan Metropolitan Park.

『Anping Love Wharf - Deyang Destroyer Warship Museum』
The warship museum featuring the 'Deyang' is the most eye-catching focus of Anping Port and the only warship museum in Taiwan. Having served in Taiwan for nearly 30 years, the Deyang was retired from its mission of defending the country in 2009, officially docked at Anping Port, and transformed into an educational warship museum. It is not only a tourist destination for military fans, but its imposing hull shape has also become a famous photo spot.
