Ishiuchi Maruyama offers magnificent snowy scenery overlooking the Uonuma Plain and the Echigo Sanzan mountains. You can easily enjoy these views even without skis.

At the mid-mountain area reached by the Sunrise Express, you can enjoy dining at cafes with terrace seating, a snow play area equipped with a snow escalator, and snow domes (additional fees apply).

The Sunrise Express is a state-of-the-art combination lift that connects the base to the mid-mountain area in one go. It is a hybrid lift where 10-person gondola cabins and 6-person chairlifts operate on the same line. The large, open cabins feature wide, highly cushioned leather seats. The entire cabin is surrounded by windows, allowing you to enjoy a panoramic view of the Uonuma Plain.

Located in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort is a historic resort with over 70 years of history, representing Niigata with its outstanding views overlooking the Uonuma Basin and a vast slope area of 236 hectares. The resort spreads out in a fan shape from the summit toward three base areas, featuring over 20 diverse courses to fully enjoy the thrill of the snowy mountains. The area's largest night skiing operation is open daily during the high season.

Access is excellent, taking about 80 minutes from Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa Station by Shinkansen, followed by a 10-minute shuttle bus ride. By car, it is about 5 minutes from the Shiozawa Ishiuchi IC. In 2018, the resort introduced the world's most advanced combination lift, the Sunrise Express, and the day-trip center, Ishiuchi Maruyama Resort Center. In 2020, the snow glamping facility 'Snow Garden' opened, allowing visitors to enjoy snowy mountain sightseeing without skiing. Furthermore, in August 2022, an 'Observation Terrace' was newly opened, offering a panoramic view of the Uonuma Basin below, proposing diverse ways to spend time at the mountain resort.

How to Get There

[Access by Shinkansen] The shortest route is about 80 minutes from JR Tokyo Station to JR Echigo Yuzawa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen. From the station, take the shuttle bus or taxi for about 10 minutes. [Access by car] Get off at Shiozawa Ishiuchi IC on the Kan'etsu Expressway and head towards National Route 17. Turn left on National Route 17, go about 500m and turn right at the third traffic light. (There is a sign for the Ishiuchi Maruyama entrance.) Go another 300m and turn left at the "Entrance/Resort Center" sign to the Ishiuchi Maruyama parking lot.
