We kick off at Vernon train station, where I'll be waiting next to my vintage Peugeot 305 GT. We start with a stroll through Vernon's charming old town — medieval tower, half-timbered houses, and the legendary old mill perched on the broken bridge over the Seine.
At lunchtime, you choose the vibe: a riverside restaurant by the Seine, a cosy spot in Giverny, or a quick stop at a local bakery for fresh bread and pastries.
The highlight of the afternoon is Monet's house and gardens in Giverny — the water lily pond, the Japanese bridge, and the explosion of colours that inspired the world's most famous Impressionist paintings.
We then drive along the Seine to La Roche-Guyon, one of France's most beautiful villages, with a castle carved into the cliffs and breathtaking views over the valley.
Continuing along the Seine Valley, we discover the picturesque village of Vétheuil, where Claude Monet lived for several years. With its riverside setting, charming streets and magnificent church overlooking the valley, Vétheuil remains one of the region's most authentic and peaceful gems.
Before heading back, we make a final stop at the Domaine de Villarceaux, a hidden treasure nestled in the heart of the Vexin Regional Park. This remarkable estate offers a journey through three châteaux and three centuries of history, featuring elegant gardens, ponds, and a unique blend of Renaissance, classical and Enlightenment architecture. A peaceful walk through the estate reveals one of the most beautiful and least-known heritage sites in the region.
At the end of the day, I'll drop you back at Vernon station, relaxed, inspired, and full of great memories.
