Fleur Jaune, a world-famous canyon.
At the heart of the Cilaos cirque lies an exceptional canyon, renowned for the richness of its landscapes and the diversity of its sensations. Fleur Jaune offers a unique vertical immersion, combining aerial rappels, natural slides, fun sections, and spectacular vantage points, all in a rocky environment bathed in light.
Technically accessible, this route is for people who are in good physical condition and want to experience canyoning in Réunion in an impressive volcanic setting. A perfect adventure for a first-time experience, without sacrificing the intensity of the experience.
A smooth and gradual descent
After a short approach walk of about 10 minutes, you immediately enter the canyon. The gorge, bright and open, quickly reveals a succession of basins carved into the rock, connected by toboggan rappels between 12 and 20 meters.
The descent is smooth thanks to the use of the toboggan rappel, a simple and comfortable technique that allows you to focus on the sensations, without technical complexity. A few optional jumps complete the descent for those who want to spice up the course.
Light, verticality, and a volcanic panorama
Exposed to direct sunlight, the canyon most often enjoys exceptional light in the morning. Halfway down, the scenery changes abruptly: the gorge opens up and reveals a breathtaking view of Piton des Neiges and the Cirque de Cilaos.
The highlight of the route is undoubtedly a rappel of about 55 meters, which is spectacular but accessible and can be descended lying down, facing the void. A powerful sequence, both impressive and incredibly beautiful.
You exit the canyon via two final rappels of approximately 35 and then 20 meters, before a well-deserved break to take off your gear and prepare for the ascent.
An alpine ascent to conclude the adventure
The ascent follows a steep and playful trail, known locally as the "Sentier Cabri". A few sections equipped with ropes require coordination and commitment, adding a mountain dimension to the exit.
The final return, on the ridge nicknamed "Faut y croire", evokes the atmosphere of an easy but aerial climb. An original, almost alpine conclusion that leaves a lasting impression right up to the final meters.
You then quickly reach the road, less than 200 meters from the vehicles.
