Experience the heart of Mauritania on this 10-day journey from the Sahara desert to the Atlantic Ocean. This tour combines history, culture, desert landscapes, and coastal beauty, guiding you through markets, oases, UNESCO heritage cities, and breathtaking natural wonders.

Day 1: Begin in Nouakchott, visiting the camel market, fish market, and a local museum to immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant culture. Overnight stay in Nouakchott.

Day 2: Depart Nouakchott around 8:00 AM toward Azoueïga, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive at the desert and camp under the stars in the golden Sahara dunes, experiencing the magic and tranquility of the desert night.

Day 3: Journey from Azoueïga to Atar, having lunch on the road. Explore the local market of Atar, where traditional crafts and daily life come alive. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Atar.

Day 4: Depart Atar for Tanlabda and continue toward Ouadane. On the way, stop to admire ancient rock paintings, offering a glimpse into prehistoric Mauritanian culture. Have lunch along the road, explore the Guelb er Richât (Eye of the Desert), and visit the historic castle of Ouadane, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend the night camping between Ouadane and the desert.

Day 5: Travel from Ouadane to Chinguetti, passing the desert village of Tanishor, where locals farm and live despite encroaching dunes. Enjoy lunch in Tanishor, then continue to Chinguetti to explore its ancient libraries, wander historic streets, and witness a breathtaking sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in a local hotel.

Day 6: Depart Chinguetti for M’heireth Oasis (Gilta) for lunch amid serene palm groves. Continue to the Tirjit Oasis, before returning to Atar for overnight in a hotel.

Day 7: Travel from Atar to Choum, stopping to marvel at the colossal Ben Amira Monolith and witnessing the iconic iron train crossing the desert. Spend the night nearby, surrounded by the quiet desert landscape.

Day 8: Continue to Shami, arriving at the Atlantic coast. Spend the night in front of the ocean, enjoying spectacular views and the refreshing sea breeze.

Day 9: Explore the fishing villages within Banc d’Arguin National Park, learning about traditional coastal life and local fishing practices. Overnight stay in Mahariat, a stunning location with panoramic views where desert dunes meet the ocean.

Day 10: Depart Mahariat for Nouakchott, enjoy lunch by the ocean, and visit artisanal and souvenir shops to take home authentic memories of your Mauritanian journey. Conclude your adventure with lasting impressions of a land where desert meets the sea.
