Hi. I am Simon. A certified English-speaking tour guide in Linhai, Zhejiang, China. I focus on China's historical relics and natural spots (including local food tour) with my own car. Either viral spots or cult spots around Hangzhou or Shanghai, I can all arrange based on your number of people, age & stay duration, to ensure you have a chill, pleasant and unforgettable journey in China.
Linhai is my hometown. If you come, I can give you a free tour guide, free local transportation with my own car. In exchange, you should be willing to appear in a video that may be used on social media. You are responsible for snacks, meals, and coffee, except for any items I provide.
Linhai is a historic city famous for its 1,600-year-old southern Great Wall, which dates back to the Eastern Jin dynasty (AD 402) and is the source and inspiration for Beijing’s Great Wall. The city also has a one-kilometer-long old street dating from the Tang dynasty, with traditional architecture and many elderly residents. Nearby, there is a hill with three pagodas and a temple at its foot that also dates back to the Tang dynasty.
Linhai is 1.5hrs to Hangzhou East and 2.5hrs to Shanghai Hongqiao by bullet train. The trip starts with pickup at Linhai railway station and ends with drop-off at the same station. Train tickets and overnight accommodation, if you want to stay a night and to feel the evening life of this small city, are at your own expense.
The trip takes about 5–6 hours, including time for photos, snacks, and lunch, at a relaxed pace focused on understanding the history. Each trip has one to four participants. Do not bring large luggage because the car has limited space. The tour includes climbing the Great Wall, so wear sports shoes. The activity is not suitable for people with mobility impairments.
The whole trip tour guide is totally free, but if you give tips, I will also accept and appreciate it. I mainly hope that you will promote Linhai and recommend me to your friends as a guide for future tours around Hangzhou or Shanghai.
Here is the itinerary in bullet points:
1. Pick you up at Linhai railway station.
2. Walk around East Lake for 1–2 hours.
3. Climb the Jiangnan Great Wall for 2–3 hours.
4. Stroll along Ziyang Old Street for 1–2 hours.
5. Snacks, lunch or dinner, and coffee breaks will be interspersed throughout the itinerary based on the timing.
6. Take you back to Linhai railway station.
If you have extra days, there are two other 5A attractions just 20–30 kilometers away by car. Shenxianju is famous for its stunning volcanic rhyolite mountain scenery and trekking opportunities. Guoqing Temple is a 1,400-year-old Buddhist temple with a serene atmosphere and lush greenery.
