After the climb, descend into the awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica and enjoy free time to explore its masterpieces. Built over St. Peter’s tomb, this colossal church took over 120 years to complete and remains one of the largest in the world. Marvel at Michelangelo’s Pietà, his only signed sculpture, and Bernini’s stunning Baldacchino. Plus, don’t forget to look up! Michelangelo’s massive dome, completed by his successors, continues to define Rome’s skyline to this day.
