Product Info

You will make melon bread, a Japanese specialty (2 per person), and while it's baking, you can experience Japanese culture. You can try writing your favorite kanji characters in calligraphy. You can even write your name in kanji. After practicing, you will create a final version on a shikishi (decorative paper board) or fan. You can also try origami. When the melon bread is ready, you will prepare matcha tea. Enjoy the freshly baked melon bread and the matcha you prepared yourself. You will be filled with the greatest joy. This experience takes place in a typical Japanese house. It's a chance to catch a glimpse of Japanese life. Please take a look at life in a Japanese-style room. ≪Schedule≫ 00 min Experience begins ↓ Explanation of the experience ↓ Melon bread making experience 40 min Break: Choose the kanji characters to write while looking at kanji samples ↓ Calligraphy: After an explanation of how to use the brush, you will freely practice writing the characters you want. ↓ Even if it's your first time, you can have fun and practice as many times as you like with free expression. ↓ Final draft: Explanation of points to finish the artwork ↓ You can choose either a colored paper or a fan for your artwork 70 minutes Origami experience: Choose your favorite chiyogami paper and fold your favorite origami artwork (lecture provided) ↓ Matcha tea preparation experience: ↓ Food and drink time: Enjoy freshly baked melon bread (2 per person) and matcha tea. ↓ *For hygiene reasons, you cannot take the melon bread home. 100 minutes The end and dismissal times are approximate. ☆ We will communicate in English or Japanese. ☆ Please take photos at your own pace. Melon bread
The bread dough will be prepared. Each participant will make their own cookie dough and shape it into a melon bread. Since fermentation and baking take time, we will experience Japanese culture during that time. Freshly baked melon bread is exceptionally delicious. Enjoy it with matcha tea that you prepare yourself. This is a plan that only I, with 25 years of experience running bread-making classes, can offer.
Calligraphy and origami
Choose your favorite kanji and practice writing them. You can also write your own name in kanji. Example: Mike → 真衣玖 I will help you convert it to kanji. For the final version, you can choose to write it on either a colored paper or a fan. If you choose a colored paper, you can also attach your origami creations. Choose your favorite chiyogami paper and try making origami. Try folding a crane or a shuriken.
tea ceremony
After explaining how to use a bamboo whisk and how to prepare matcha, you will prepare your own matcha. Use your hands carefully to create a finely textured matcha. Enjoy the matcha you prepared yourself with freshly baked melon bread that you made yourself. You will have a truly blissful time.
