- Chaojing Park
Located on the east side of the Badouzi Peninsula, Chaojing Park features vast coastal grasslands and expansive scenery. You can overlook Jiufen and Keelung Mountain from here, making it one of the most popular spots on the Northeast Coast. The park is filled with various art installations, such as the recently popular 'Flying Broomstick,' which attracts many visitors. - Zhengbin Fishing Port
Located south of Heping Island, this is a historic old fishing port. Established by the Japanese in 1934, it was the largest port in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. Once a prosperous commercial fishing hub, it was a key contributor to Keelung's early fishing industry and a vital base for deep-sea fishing in Northern Taiwan. As fishing vessel tonnages increased, the port's water depth could no longer accommodate them. Although it is less bustling now, it still retains its rustic charm. - Jinshan Sulfur Fire Season
'Bong Huo Zi,' also known as sulfur fire fishing, refers to the traditional Taiwanese cultural practice of using light to catch fish at night. It gets its name from the 'bong' sound made when the flame is ignited. Locally known in Jinshan as 'Xi Zai Chuan,' it is the world's only remaining sulfur fire fishing method. Consequently, this technique was registered as a New Taipei City cultural asset in 2015, and the Huanggang Fishing Port in Jinshan District is the only place in Taiwan that preserves this traditional fishing method. In the early days, 4 to 5 people would ride on bamboo rafts or wooden boats, holding torches to lure fish. Today, it has evolved into a team of 7 to 8 people per boat, each with their own duties. Fishermen use calcium carbide (locally called sulfur stone) mixed with water to produce acetylene gas, igniting the torch with a 'bong' sound. At this moment, phototactic blue-scaled fish are attracted by the light and jump out of the water in large numbers, and fishermen use scoop nets to catch them. The snacks at Keelung Miaokou date back to the Japanese colonial era. The market is named after the 'Dianji Temple,' commonly known as the 'Saint King Temple,' in front of which it is located.
