【Large Migration Tank】
The 1,250-ton Large Migration Tank is home to 1,500 fish of 90 different species, including impressive large fish like sharks and rays. During the feeding commentary, you can watch the fish being fed while listening to explanations.
There is an island made of artificial rock in the center of the tank, and the seawater flows around it. This tank design was created by our aquarium 50 years ago, a world first.
Also, the complex shape of the rocks allows small and large fish to coexist, enabling us to house a greater number of species.
The Large Migration Tank, which shows a completely different side depending on where you view it from, is full of hidden ingenuity.
【Coral Reef Tank Underwater Walk】
This tank, where we were the first in Japan to successfully breed coral from the southern part of Oita Prefecture under artificial lighting, features beautiful fish from the same waters competing in color.
Divers also perform feedings and provide commentary at scheduled times, and the friendly Napoleon fish is a popular attraction.
The tanks, which maximize the beauty of sea creatures—from the metallic shimmer of fish to the swaying of transparent jellyfish—are all artistic.
Please enjoy the wonders of the bodies that these creatures have acquired over a long period of time.
【Touch Pool】
Various fish from the Oita sea swim in a tank that seems to blend into the beautiful Beppu Bay.
By feeling the texture, smell, and temperature of the sea creatures, you can cultivate a sense of compassion and enrich your emotions amidst the magnificent, seasonal scenery overlooking Beppu Bay.
【Aso-Beach】
A new type of beach has been born with the theme of 'Playing with animals x Playing with art'!
You can observe dolphins swimming freely in the pool and various creatures taking walks, seeing them in their natural state.
Watch the animals on the white sandy beach or have fun with the artistic playground equipment. Why not spend a luxurious time at Aso-Beach?
