There are so many trails to choose from in Taroko National Park, each with its own unique features and beautiful scenery.
Beginner-friendly: 'Xiao Zhui Lu' & Shakadang Trail
Xiao Zhui Lu Trail
- Xiao Zhui Lu is located at the east entrance of the Shakadang Tunnel.
- It is named this way because you can enjoy terrain similar to the Zhui Lu Cliff at the east entrance.
- However, that is not all; from here, you can overlook the archway of the Central Cross-Island Highway.
- You can also admire the valley of the lower Liwu River and the Jinwen Bridge over the river.
- Another feature of the Xiao Zhui Lu Trail is its two distinct valley suspension bridges.
- The 'Exploration Suspension Bridge' and the 'Plank Suspension Bridge'; the former is woven with ropes.
- The former has a limit of 5 people, while the latter holds 20. You must walk across both when you come here!
Shakadang Trail
- The Shakadang Trail was originally known as the 'Mysterious Valley Trail'.
- However, there is a well-known Truku tribe in the upper reaches of the Shakadang River called the 'Datong Tribe'.
- Since the old name of the tribe was 'Skadang', the name of the trail was adopted accordingly.
- This trail was built at the end of the Japanese colonial period, initially for the maintenance of dams and large water pipes.
- After some renovation, it is now open to tourists.
- It also gives everyone the opportunity to see the canyon scenery and rich natural ecology along the way.
- The ecological environment of the Shakadang Trail is very rich.
- The terrain of the river valley and rock walls divides the plants here into dry and wet types, giving each section of the road a different landscape.
- Such as the fern-covered rock walls or the banyan tree clusters. The most impressive feature is the 'great folds' on the rock walls, which are stacked layer upon layer like a mille-feuille cake.

- Approx. 90 minutes Shakadang Trail to Wujianwu (approx. 1.5km) round trip
- Approx. 60 minutes Xiao Zhui Lu Trail
- Approx. 50 minutes End of tour, return to city center

In the event of inclement weather such as typhoons or snowstorms, a decision on whether to cancel the tour will be made 1 day(s) before departure (local time 08:00). Notifications will then be sent via email

Please arrive at the designated location 15 minute(s) before the scheduled departure time, as the tour will depart on time

Activity arrangements will be adjusted based on participant conditions/facility conditions/weather factors, with safety and overall quality as the highest consideration.
Outside of activity hours, never approach dangerous areas without authorization to avoid accidents due to lack of care.
If the weather or site conditions are not good during the activity, please follow the instructions of the coach and team leader.
Use team spirit to assist teammates and never leave the team to act alone.
Such as typhoons, earthquakes, heavy rains, road conditions and other force majeure factors, the company reserves the right to change the itinerary, such as postponement or cancellation.
If there are any changes due to factors such as weather or event venue, we will notify you by phone in advance.
If you do not participate in the event due to personal reasons, extension will not be accepted (for example, personal factors: diagnosis, injury, menstrual period, car accident, oversleeping). Participants are responsible for reading this clause before making payment, and understand and bear the relevant risks.
Activities will run normally on rainy days. If the Central Weather Bureau issues sea/land or heavy rain warnings, the activities will be postponed or cancelled.
If the above-mentioned alarm takes effect during the activity or the coach judges that the activity cannot be carried out safely and the activity is terminated early, no replacement will be arranged.
Late/no-show: Based on the meeting time, if a participant is overdue for more than 20 minutes, his or her registration will be automatically canceled. No additional waiting will be required or participants will be accepted to join the event midway.
Participants who are unable to participate in the activity due to lateness/no-show will not be postponed. If there is a slight delay (within 20 minutes), please inform the coach of the day 15-20 minutes before the meeting.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations 8 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
- For cancellations made 3 to 7 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 20% will apply
- For cancellations made 2 to 2 days prior to selected date, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply
- Cancellation is not allowed between 0–1 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
- Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
