Penghu | Shomon Island Kayaking Experience | Sunrise Half-Day Tour

－ Trip Information －

• Age Requirement: Travelers aged 6 and above
• Duration: Approx. 3.5 hours
• Meeting Point: Wandering Whale Base
• Meeting Address: No. 11-8, Xiaomen Village, Xiyu Township, Penghu County (Next to Xiaomen Parking Lot, beside the Activity Center)
• How to Get There: Search for 'Wanderingwhale' or 'Xiaomen Whale Cave' on Google Maps and park at the Xiaomen Visitor Parking Lot.

－ Trip Introduction －

• Meeting: After check-in, there will be a safety briefing and environmental introduction.
• Gear Up: You may get wet when boarding or disembarking, so please change if necessary. After changing, leave your belongings in the base lobby, place valuables in a waterproof bag (one per boat), and collect your life jacket, paddle, and backrest.
• Paddle Instruction & Practice: Paddle instruction will be conducted on the beach. Afterward, two people per boat will take the boat into the water to practice in the beach area, including lessons on self-rescue after falling into the water and how to get back on the boat at sea!
• Departure: 2 boats will be led by one instructor; 3-7 boats will be led by 2 instructors; 7-10 boats will be led by 3 instructors.
• Rest Stop & Photography: Photos will be uploaded to our fan page and stored in a Google Photos album for guests to download.
• Attractions
  Shomon Island is located at the northern end of Xiyu and covers an area of only 0.5 square kilometers. It is now connected to the main island by an arched bridge, which locals call the 'McDonald's Bridge.' The geological and topographical landscape of Shomon Island is a microcosm of the Penghu archipelago, often referred to as a living geography classroom. The most unique sea-eroded landform is the 'Whale Cave' located in the north of the island. Originally a basalt sea cliff, it was continuously eroded by the sea until a sea arch was formed. It looks like a whale stranded on the beach. Standing in the cave, you can listen to the soul-stirring roar of the waves, which is truly refreshing and invigorating.
• Breakfast: One meal per person to replenish energy. Refreshments include coffee, peanut cakes, savory rice cakes, or steamed buns, etc.
• Return: After returning to shore, return your equipment (life jacket, waterproof bag, paddle, backrest), wash up, and head home!
• Do your part for the marine ecosystem; if you see marine debris during the experience, please help us pick it up so we can work together to preserve the beauty of the ocean.
