A visit to Kifune's shrines can typically be completed in 1 to 2 hours. It's recommended to visit the Main Shrine first, then the Okunomiya, and finally the Yuinoyashiro, with short walks of about 10-15 minutes between each.

Kifune Jinja Shrine is located in the area known as Kibune. While the pronunciation differs slightly, both terms refer to the same Sino-Japanese characters and denote the same locale north of Kyoto city, easily accessible by train.

Legend has it that a goddess arrived in Kibune on a yellow boat, and the shrine marks her landing spot. The Okunomiya, the original shrine site, is located a kilometer further up the road, where you can see large stones said to cover the remains of the goddess's yellow boat.
