Informations sur le produit

_What You Can Expect_

Margaret Preston (1875–1963) is celebrated for her striking floral still lifes and modernist woodblock prints that helped shape Australian art in the 20th century.

This retrospective follows her artistic journey, showing how she absorbed influences from Post-Impressionism, European primitivism, the Arts and Crafts movement and Japanese ukiyo-e prints to create a distinctive visual language. The exhibition also looks at her turn to First Nations cultural material in pursuit of a national art, and the critical conversations about appropriation this raises today.

Alongside Preston's works, the exhibition presents pieces by her peers and by contemporary artists who respond to her legacy, offering a fresh perspective on one of Australia's most important modernists.
