Informations sur le produit

Discover the layered history of Melaka through a guided walk across its UNESCO World Heritage district, where trade, religion, and colonial influence shaped one of Southeast Asia’s most important port cities. Beginning at Dutch Square, you will see the famous red buildings such as Stadthuys and Christ Church while learning how Portuguese, Dutch, and British powers each left their mark on the city’s identity.

Continue uphill to the ruins of St. Paul’s Church, originally built in the 16th century and later used by the Dutch. From this elevated site overlooking the Straits of Melaka, your guide will explain the city’s role in maritime trade, missionary history, and regional politics. Nearby stands Porta de Santiago, the surviving gateway of the former A Famosa fortress, a rare reminder of Melaka’s military past.

The journey also explores Malaysia’s path to nationhood at the Proclamation of Independence Memorial, where historical records and exhibits present the story of independence. Beyond colonial landmarks, the tour reveals Melaka’s enduring multicultural communities through the Sri Poyyatha Moorthi Temple, one of the oldest active Hindu temples in the country and an important symbol of the local Chitty heritage.

Your walk concludes among two of Melaka’s most meaningful religious sites: Kampung Kling Mosque, known for its unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Sumatran design, and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest traditional Chinese temple in Malaysia. Still active today, these sacred places reflect the harmony, diversity, and living traditions that continue to define Melaka.
