Informations sur le produit

Begin your journey by visiting some essential sights of Meteora and Trikala city. In Meteora, visit the hermit caves of Badova and Pyxari rocks, where the wooden structures still remain in situ as a strong reminder of the ascetic life.

Next, stop in Trikala city, the capital of the Trikala regional unit. The city has a long history that goes back to prehistoric times. Homer mentions the city in Iliad and Strabo refers to the sanctuary of Asclepius as the most ancient and prominent in Greece.

Visit the Byzantine Castle, built in the 6th century from the emperor Justinian I on the ruins of the ancient acropolis. The view to the city down is just memorable.

Continue towards Pyli, a town built at the foot of the Pindos mountains and known as one of the two passages to south Pindos. Just outside the town, see a 13th-century Byzantine church, situated on the southern bank of Portaikos river. The church of “Porta Panagia” was the main church of a monastery dedicated to Virgin Mary and built on the ruins of an ancient temple.

Following the bank of Portaikos river, marvel at the one-arched stone bridge of Saint Vissarion that stands imposing since 1514. Until 1936, it was the only pass from the Thessalian plain to south Pindos.

Finally, after 14 km, reach Elati village, where you can rest and enjoy the view of the fir forest and the sloping mountains. After reaching Pertouli village, take the way back to Meteora, filled with nature, history, and culture.
