Embark on a serene 7 km walking journey that winds from the ancient St. George Arma Monastery, perched among olive groves and limestone ridges, downhill toward Lykos Winery. This modest hike, rich in natural beauty and cultural touches, is perfect for those who want gentle adventure, quiet reflection, and a rewarding finish with wine.

What You’ll See & Feel

Sacred beginnings: You’ll depart from the monastery, a 11th century monument, monks’ cells, and stone-cobbled courtyards. In the early morning light, the silence here feels like a prayer.

Trail through nature: The route descends gently through fragrant maquis shrubland, olive terraces, and pine-framed slopes. Chalky soils underfoot shift between earth and stone.

Scenic viewpoints: Pause at leafy overlooks where the valley unfolds below—the distant sea, patchworks of fields, occasional clusters of traditional hamlets far below.

Flora & fauna: Spot wild herbs (oregano, thyme), cyclamen tucked into rock crevices, birds on the wing, and perhaps a lizard darting across the sunlit rocks.

Approaching the winery: As you near Lykos Winery, the trail merges into local neighborhoods.

The finish line: Your arrival is met with pastoral calm. Lykos welcomes you with cool hospitality—a tasting of wines, and time to sit down and let the walk’s memories settle.

Why It’s Special

Accessible for most walkers: The distance is moderate, and the terrain is not too steep—suitable even for those with only light hiking experience.
Intimate and unspoiled: You’ll pass few people; it feels like a hidden gem journey.
Dual rewards: Spiritual reflection at the monastery, nature immersion en route, and then sensory delight in wine at the end.

Seasonal color: Spring brings wildflowers; early autumn yields warm tones and harvest energy; even winter has its quiet beauty in muted greens and golden light
