Our bike rental has more than 10 years of experience. The route offers a cultural guided tour by bike with a licensed local guide who will show and explain the island of Ortigia. The tour guide will speak English, German, and Italian. The tour will last two hours and will take place by bike, with a choice of e-bikes, city bikes, MTBs, or electric tandems of all sizes. The tour includes a food tasting of an excellent aperitif with a non-alcoholic drink of your choice and a selected platter of Sicilian appetizers such as panelle, local pistachio salami, bruschetta of various flavors, local olives, sun-dried tomatoes, local cheeses, and French fries.
The tour will start from our shop at Via della Dogana 15, where you will choose the bike that is right for you. The tour guide will lead you and show you the streets of the island of Ortigia in the Baroque historic old town of Syracuse. The first stop will be at the Marina promenade, with a visit to the Marina Gate, a ride along the Alfeo promenade, and the Alfeo promenade lookout. The fountain Arethusa and the Castello Maniace are must-see stops. Our ride will take us to the western seafront with the Spanish bastions, a lovely walks through the streets and alleys of Ortigia, Giudecca, and Via Maestranza. The guided tour will reach the Piazza del Duomo, where you will visit the Cathedral of Syracuse and the Palazzo Beneventano and the Bishop's Palace. We'll get back on our bikes and then make a stop at Piazza Archimede and the fountain of the Goddess Minerva. The tour will continue along Via Dione, then there will be a stop at the Temple of Apollo and Piazza Pancali.
Leaving Ortigia, the tour will continue to the Sbarcatero, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the island of Ortigia.
Drop-off is at the shop in Via della Dogana 15. You will leave your bikes and be escorted to a nearby bar we trust on Corso Umberto I. There, seated on the covered outdoor veranda or in the air-conditioned indoor room, you will receive a delicious non-alcoholic aperitif of your choice and you will be able to taste a selected platter of local pistachio salami, local cheeses, panelle, local olives, local sun-dried tomatoes and bruschetta. All this to satisfy every type of palate after a nice bike ride.
