Product Info
Explore the heart of Rome on a 2-hour walking tour linking three of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The route takes place entirely outdoors, with no entry tickets required and no monument queues involved. Meet your guide at Piazza di Spagna, near the Spanish Steps, and begin your walk through the historic centre of Rome. From there, continue to the Trevi Fountain, the city’s largest and most famous Baroque fountain. Your guide will explain the symbolism behind the figure of Oceanus, the Aqua Virgo aqueduct that has supplied water to the fountain since 19 BC, and the coin-throwing tradition popularised by the 1954 film Three Coins in the Fountain. The tour then continues through Piazza Colonna, home to the Column of Marcus Aurelius and located in front of the official residence of the Italian Prime Minister. Walk onward to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved monuments of Ancient Rome. From Piazza della Rotonda, admire the massive granite columns of its portico and discover how the building survived nearly 2,000 years thanks to its conversion into a Christian church in 609 AD. Finally, arrive at Piazza Navona, the elegant Baroque square built on the ruins of the ancient Stadium of Domitian. Your guide will share the story behind Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, his famous rivalry with Borromini, architect of the church overlooking the square, and the long role of Piazza Navona as a stage for Roman public life. Two daily time slots are available. The 8:30 morning departure runs before the heaviest crowds arrive at Trevi and Navona. The 17:30 afternoon departure catches central Rome as the city shifts into its evening rhythm.
