Product Info

Begin your walking tour of Berlin’s courtyards in the Spandauer Vorstadt district. Stroll through the Hackesche Höfe, the largest and most famous courtyards in old Berlin. Continue to the House Schwarzenberg, a vibrant alley filled with artists' studios, bars, galleries, and a lot of street art works.

Next, visit the Jewish Quarter, established in XVII century, and see the artwork called ‘The Wall of Peace’. Pass by the oldest house in Spandauer Vorstadt and admire the thought-provoking silent WWII memorial titled The Missing House.

Stop at the Sophienkirche, a Protestant church built in 1713, and see the medallion depicting intertwined hands on the arch of the Sophiensaele, that has undergone a stunning transformation from a workers' association venue. Explore the Sophie-Gips-Höfe, where modern architecture, traditional lifestyle, and art have come together in an old factory.

Walk along Auguststrasse, the art mile of modern Berlin, and see Clärchens Ballroom, one of the last surviving dance establishments of the early XX century. Learn about the famous artists who frequented this place.

Finally, visit the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, founded by young enthusiasts in an abandoned factory in Mitte amidst the chaos of 1990s, and the Heckmann-Höfe, an architectural ensemble consisting of three courtyards, which are listed as historical monuments.
