Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup in Reykjavík, where your friendly guide welcomes you aboard a rugged yet comfortable 4x4 Sprinter. This winter-ready vehicle is built for Iceland’s smaller countryside roads. Enjoy a smoother ride, extra space, and panoramic windows for sky-gazing as you go.

Leave the city behind and travel deeper into the Icelandic night, far from artificial lights. The journey is quiet, scenic, and shared with a smaller group, not more than 19 guests, making it feel more personal and relaxed. It’s a peaceful way to explore Iceland’s wintry wilderness, whether you’re traveling with friends, family, or flying solo.

There’s no set route—only a shared mission: to find the aurora. Your guide uses real-time forecasts to choose the best possible viewing location, based on weather, cloud cover, and aurora activity. Once you arrive, the engine stops and the sky takes center stage.

Make sure you’re dressed warmly. This is an adventure in the Arctic night. A cozy fleece or one of the provided blankets will keep you comfortable as you step outside. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and a chocolate treat while you look up and wait.

When the Northern Lights appear, they sweep across the sky in vivid streaks of green, violet, or even red—a sight that’s hard to describe and impossible to forget. Photos are included, so your guide will capture the moment for you to take home, even if your camera can’t. If nature doesn’t cooperate and no lights are seen, no worries—you’ll get a free retry valid for 3 years.

  • Know Before You Go: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed. Our guides use their experience and local knowledge to provide the best possible chance of seeing them.

  • Know Before You Go: Due to weather, we may cancel the Northern Lights portion by 18:15 (6:15 PM) on the day of the tour if conditions aren't favorable. You can rebook for another date or receive a full refund.

  • Know Before You Go: For the Northern Lights adventure, pickup is at either 20:30 (8:30 PM) or 21:30 (9:30 PM), depending on the season. You'll find the actual pickup time in the booking process and on your final voucher.

  • Know Before You Go: Picking everyone up can take up to 30 minutes; your patience is much appreciated.

  • Know Before You Go: If the tour takes place but no Northern Lights are seen, refunds are not issued. Instead, customers are offered unlimited free retries on the Northern Lights Minibus tour, valid for up to 3 years. Our Customer Care team will assist with booking any retry.
