They were born to carry out work that no respectable citizens or poor people would touch – such as dismembering executed criminals, emptying latrines, and removing carcasses.

The night men and their families developed into a parallel society that operated by its own rules and developed its own language. The story of the night men is a tale of a group's ostracism, their thirst for revenge, powerlessness, helplessness, and pride.
