From the Dommarkt, this special city tour takes you to historic trading places, through old town alleys and on to the banks of the Rhine, which for centuries played a central role in the city's trade in goods and wine.

Along the way, you will learn how Mainz was shaped by markets, guilds, trade, and its location on the Rhine. Former trade routes, historic street names and the areas around Fischtor, Weintor and Holztor tell the story of the merchants, fishermen, artisans and winegrowers who shaped life in the city.

The walking tour connects the bustling world of cathedral and market operations with the trade routes along the Rhine and opens up new insights into the development of the city from a medieval trading center to the present day.
