The day starts with your driver/guide coming to pick you up at your hotel at your chosen time, normally around 9am.
You will head towards Trou aux Cerfs, crater of dead volcano. A stop here to see the crater but also very nice views on mountains as well as aerial view of the neighbouring towns and beautiful views of mountains from here, as this is the Central Plateau, hence the highest point of Mauritius.
Then visit the Floreal Commercial Centre where you can get some duty free products and at factory prices and also visit the ship models factories. What a nice craft and how talented are the Mauritians
Then visit the Mare aux Vacoas Reservoir which is the largest reservoir of Mauritius and which provides water for domestic purposes to the whole big area surrounding Trou aux Cerfs.
Entering Plaine Champagne Forest Area, you will be delighted to find yourself in a nice and cool green environment, the Plaine Champagne Forests being preserved by the Government to protect flora and fauna. If the season allows it, normally during May/June, Mauritians go there to pluck guava known as " Goyave de Chine"
Then enter Grand Bassin, where Hindus people go for pilgrimage. See the more than 100 metres statue of Lord Shiva. After that you will be driven to Alexandra Falls viewpoint and short hike. Mountain views, rivers, Aerial views of the West of Mauritius with its sea views
You cannot leave without the short stroll to the Black River Gorges Viewpoint area.
What a magnificent view of the valleys. The mountain appears as if they wish to talk to you and greet you. So cool, so calm.
The next point is Chamarel Waterfalls viewpoint before admiring the Seven Coloured Earth. Incredible and unique. The earth is said to have acquired these colours after eruptions of lavas as Mauritius is said to have been formed after numerous eruptions of very active volcanoes. No worries, there is no active volcano in Mauritius now.
