Product Info

The Payet & Rivière artisanal sugar refinery and distillery opens its doors to you for a unique immersion in the island's sugar history and the production of Galabé, a local sweet treat made from pure cane juice with an intense and refined taste.

Guided by enthusiasts, you will discover the secrets of an almost forgotten ancestral Galabé recipe, passed down from generation to generation. The tour will also show you the steps of making the very first Propriété de la Réunion rums, from the field to the bottle.

Press your own cane juice using a traditional mill, explore the different stages of cane processing, and watch the machines in an open-air workshop overlooking the ocean. The tour ends in style with a generous tasting.

This "Discovery" tour is suitable for both children and adults.

Attire: trainers or open-toed shoes that support the foot well, or even flip-flops, but high heels are not practical.
Recommended parking: in front of the shop called 'Dodo'.

Note: Since the processing of cane juice is a seasonal activity, we cannot guarantee that you will see the workshop and the tools in operation during your visit.
