Antananarivo: Andasibe National Park Day Trip with Lemurs｜Madagascar

Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Antananarivo. Set off on a scenic drive towards the lush eastern rainforest, taking in the stunning landscapes along the way.

Arrive at the Analamazaotra Reserve, part of Andasibe National Park, and embark on a guided walk through the ancient tropical rainforest. Keep your eyes peeled for the Indri-Indri, the largest lemur species in the world, known for its powerful and haunting morning calls. You might also spot the beautiful Diademed Sifaka, bamboo lemurs, brown lemurs, and other species, depending on the season.

Marvel at the diverse wildlife, including leaf-tailed geckos, chameleons, and tree frogs, as well as the lush vegetation, giant ferns, orchids, and ancient trees. The highlight of this experience is hearing the Indri-Indri’s call echoing through the forest – a unique and unforgettable experience.

After your rainforest adventure, enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant in Andasibe (optional and flexible based on your preference).

Next, head to the Vakoana Private Reserve, also known as Lemurs’ Island. Cross a short canoe or bridge (depending on the water level) to access the island and enjoy close-up interactions with friendly lemurs. Watch as common brown lemurs, bamboo lemurs, and black-and-white ruffed lemurs play around you, and if they feel comfortable, they might even jump on your shoulders. Capture up-close photos and enjoy personal encounters with lemurs in a safe environment.

On your way back to Antananarivo, make a quick stop at the Peyrieras Reptile Reserve in Marozevo. Discover a variety of chameleons, leaf-tailed geckos, iguanas, frogs, butterflies, and crocodiles in a natural exhibit. This is an excellent spot for photography and learning about Madagascar’s unique reptile diversity.

Finally, relax on the drive back to Antananarivo, with an estimated arrival between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, depending on traffic.
