Step into a world of fantasy at the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, famous for its appearance in beloved anime like Hotarubi no Mori e and Natsume’s Book of Friends.

Walk through a path lined with nearly 100 lanterns, and let the mystical atmosphere transport you to another realm. Don’t miss the legendary Tooriwa Rock, a massive hole said to bring good luck and success. It’s also a hotspot for couples praying for love and prosperity.

Dive into Japanese mythology at the Amano Iwato Shrine, the sacred site where the sun goddess Amaterasu hid, plunging the world into darkness. Explore the nearby Amano Yasugawara, where visitors stack stones to make wishes. From July to September, enjoy a free ice cream while you’re here.

Prepare to be wowed by Takachiho Gorge, a stunning valley formed by ancient volcanic activity. Walk along the 1-kilometer trail and marvel at the 17-meter Manai Waterfall, one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls. Snap photos of the iconic Three Bridges of Takachiho, each representing a different era, and feel the power of the Onihashi Rock, a 200-ton boulder tied with sacred ropes. The towering Sennin-no-Byobu Rock (70 meters high!) will leave you speechless.
