Hiroshima Asa Zoo, which opened in 1971, is located in the hilly area in the northwest of the city and is a familiar family-friendly attraction for Hiroshima residents. The park is planned according to the terrain and houses more than 100 species of animals from Africa, Asia and Japan. It has eight themed exhibition areas, including the African Animal Area, the Ape and Monkey Area, the Reptile Hall, the Tortoise Plaza, the Japanese and Asian Animal Area, and the Carnivore Area.

The park's most representative exhibit is the only family of African forest elephants successfully bred in the country, where you can witness the precious daily interactions between mother and baby elephants. The lion glass exhibit allows you to look up at lions through reinforced glass; the cheetah viewing platform offers a panoramic view of cheetahs running; and the panda walkway allows you to observe their lively figures up close.

In addition, the park also features a "Bichiku Park" small animal touch area where visitors can interact with small animals such as sheep, rabbits, and guinea pigs, making it suitable for families with children.
