-Ishikawa Prefecture Traditional Industrial Crafts Museum (いしかわ生工芸ミュージアム)-
Located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, adjacent to Kenrokuen Garden, the Traditional Industries and Crafts Museum is the only facility in Japan showcasing all 36 traditional crafts of Ishikawa Prefecture. From the delicate and refined Kaga Yuzen ware, the vibrant and magnificent Kutani ware, and the elegant and dignified Yamanaka lacquerware, to the internationally renowned Wajima lacquerware, in addition to permanent exhibits, the museum also hosts special exhibitions focusing on the "contemporary aspects" of traditional crafts. Every Saturday and Sunday, artisans are invited to demonstrate the production process, and various themed workshops are offered, allowing visitors to witness, touch, and experience the charm of Japanese traditional crafts firsthand. With its proximity to Kenrokuen Garden, the museum is an ideal extension of any Kanazawa sightseeing itinerary.
Step into the first exhibition hall and explore kimonos, tableware, tea utensils, and home crafts under the three themes of "clothing, food, and living." From clothing and dining to living spaces, experience the exquisite beauty of Ishikawa's traditional crafts integrated into daily life.
Admire the Golden Temple, a replica of Hideyoshi's "Daigo Hanami Screen Painting," where the warm luster of gold leaf and vermilion felt complement each other, and the subtle light filtering through the extremely thin silk creates a mysterious realm recreated after 420 years.
Every Saturday and Sunday, traditional craftsmen are invited to the on-site demonstration area. From 10:00 to 15:00 (including lunch break), visitors can observe the exquisite techniques of Kaga Yuzen and Wajima lacquerware processes up close.
