Informations sur le produit

Tokushima Prefecture Whirlpool Road Walking Trail

The Whirlpool Path is a 450-meter-long walkway built inside the main beam of the Naruto Bridge, suspended 45 meters above the Naruto Strait. This thrilling walkway allows visitors to stroll on the sea surface and admire the famous Naruto Whirlpools up close. The Naruto Whirlpools are formed by the powerful tidal currents between the Seto Inland Sea and the Kii Strait.

These whirlpools, reaching up to 20 meters in diameter, are among the largest in the world and appear only during specific tidal periods. Naruto is also one of the three regions in the world with the fastest tidal currents, exceeding 20 kilometers per hour during the seasonal spring tides (also known as extraordinary tides) that occur during the full and new moons throughout the year.

Along the trail, visitors can also enjoy views of Naruto Bridge, sightseeing boats, and the surrounding scenery of Naruto Park, including attractions such as Mount Naruto and the Otsuka Museum of Art.

—Onaruto Bridge Eddie Memorial Hall—

The Naruto Bridge Whirlpool Memorial Museum is a spiral-shaped museum inspired by the Naruto whirlpool itself. Through immersive films, interactive simulations, and virtual experiences, the museum allows visitors to explore the workings of the Naruto whirlpool and the engineering principles of the Naruto Bridge.

Key highlights include:

  • The 4K 360° cinema "Awa" showcases the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Tokushima, including exciting scenes from the Awa Dance Festival.
  • Play with Eddie! — Touch and voice-controlled LED projection allows guests to interact with vortex-themed artworks.
  • The stunning Onaruto Bridge! — Educational exhibits and replicas explaining the construction process of this magnificent bridge.
  • The rooftop observation deck is an excellent spot for enjoying panoramic views of Wakayama and Shodoshima on clear days.
  • Guided by the mascot Larousse, visitors can learn when and how vortices form through an engaging multimedia exhibit.
