Chemnitz has modern influences in its architecture and culture. Stroll through the city and discover all those modern buildings. Admire the theater with its modernist architecture and find out more about how renowned architects such as Helmut Jahn, Hans Kollhoff, and Christoph Ingenhoven were involved in the development of a new city center. Pass by the enormous Karl Marx monument, 7 meters tall, made by Lev Kerbel, that is also the city’s most famous monument. Marvel at the Red Tower, the symbol of the town built in the 12th century that has survived many wars and centuries and is all that is left from the former Chemnitz city wall.
