Begin your adventure with a hotel pickup in Iquitos and a transfer to the tourist pier Bella Vista Nanay. Board a comfortable and safe PAMACARI boat and set off on your journey. Make a stop to observe the meeting point of the Nanay and Amazon rivers, where you can see the difference in water colors.

Continue toward a town called San Juan de Huashalado, located about 1 hour and 40 minutes downstream by boat on the great Amazon River, considered one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. After a 5-minute walk crossing the town of San Juan de Huashalado, reach the Yanayacu River, which means “black-water river,” to discover the kingdom of giant trees and its impressive flora and fauna.

By boat, follow the course of the Yanayacu River to explore this area rich in birdlife, with the chance to spot animals camouflaged among the foliage and treetops (monkeys, birds, and sloths) in their natural habitat. Enjoy deeper jungle walks with an explanation of medicinal plants, but without a doubt the giant flora is what inspires the most admiration—trees rising over 40 meters high.

Show your skill with one of the most feared—and tastiest—fish in the Amazon with a traditional piranha fishing experience. Then, enjoy lunch at Cabaña Amazon Lodge (self-service), with dishes like fish, heart-of-palm salad, jungle fruits, and natural fruit refreshments. Vegetarian or special diets are available with prior notice.

On the return trip, spot pink and gray dolphins in their natural habitat and enjoy an impressive sunset while navigating the majestic Amazon River. Finally, return to your hotel in Iquitos.
