Drive out of Athens along the western coastline of Attica to visit the Corinth Canal. Learn about this major construction work in Greece, dated from 1880 to 1893, that changed everything in transportation, allowing ship interconnection between the Ionian and the Aegean Sea.

Then, drive towards the Corinthian Gulf to visit the Lake of Heraion/Vouliagmeni. Discover the peaceful landscape, sandy beach combined with a crystal clear, shallow blue sea, taverns and restaurants with seafood and premium Mediterranean gastronomy, sea sports and activities, composing a dream scenery that will enchant you. This is the perfect place to swim and relax while having lunch.

Only two kilometers far from the lagoon, just below an iconic lighthouse, lies the archaeological site of Heraion. The Heraion of Perachora was a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Hera. In addition to a temple of Hera, which is of unusual construction, the remains of a number of other structures have also been found, including an L-shaped stoa, a large cistern, dining rooms, and a second potential temple remnants.
