Product Info

Let yourself be guided in discovering Burano and Mazzorbo with an experience that goes beyond the classic sightseeing tour. This walking itinerary offers a naturalistic, historical, and cultural interpretation of the two islands, allowing you to get to know the most authentic soul of the Venetian Lagoon through landscapes, traditions, and encounters with those who still preserve its identity today.
Our route will start in Burano, the island famous worldwide for its brightly painted houses reflected in the canals. Strolling through the narrow streets, small squares, and along the shores, we will discover how this small lagoon town originated from the ancient settlement of people who fled the mainland during the barbaric invasions, and over time became a community deeply tied to fishing, sailing, and craftsmanship. We will observe the architectural details of the island, its most evocative views, and the places that tell the story of the centuries-old relationship between the inhabitants and the lagoon.
We will reach the old Amadi shipyard, a testament to the local shipbuilding tradition, and explore the role of boats in the daily life of the lagoon communities. Crossing the island, we will have the opportunity to understand the difficult environmental conditions faced by the first inhabitants and the extraordinary strategies developed to live in balance with a territory that is as fragile as it is fascinating.
We will take a close look at the typical environments of the northern lagoon and discuss the ecological importance of the salt marshes, tides, and habitats that make this ecosystem unique in the world. We will learn to read the lagoon landscape by going beyond its simple scenic beauty, discovering the delicate balances that ensure its survival.
One of the most authentic moments of the experience will be meeting a family of lace makers. Through the direct account of those who keep this centuries-old tradition alive, we will learn about the history of Burano lace, the art that has made the island famous worldwide and that still represents an important cultural heritage today.
We will then cross the picturesque bridge that connects Burano to Mazzorbo, an island often overlooked by the large tourist flows but essential for understanding the history of the Northern Lagoon. Here the landscape changes: the pace slows down, the spaces open up, and the presence of nature takes center stage. We will walk among ancient cultivated lands, monasteries, vegetable gardens and vineyards, retracing the events of a place that was one of the main centers of the lagoon in the Middle Ages.
During the visit, we will get in touch with a local winery, where we will discover the link between the lagoon and the cultivation of grapes. We will learn about the history of ancient Venetian grape varieties rescued from oblivion and understand how the work of man still interacts with the surrounding environment today.
This experience is designed for those who want to get to know Burano and Mazzorbo in an authentic way, far from hurried visits.
