Your night in ice and snow!
Imagine this: You are snuggled up in your expedition sleeping bag, with a dome of shimmering ice above you, absolute silence all around you – and outside, millions of stars are twinkling in the Allgäu night sky. Welcome to the Igloo Lodge at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters on the Nebelhorn near Oberstdorf!
Every winter, a unique igloo village is created up here: handcrafted sleeping igloos, an impressive ice bar, a restaurant made of snow and ice – decorated with elaborate sculptures and reliefs that bring a new theme to life each year. What started as a small idea is today one of the most extraordinary overnight experiences in the entire Alpine region.
Your evening on the mountain
In the afternoon, the Nebelhorn cable car will take you up to the Höfatsblick mountain station. There, our igloo guides will greet you with a welcome drink and lead you through the fascinating world of ice. As the sun sinks behind the Allgäu peaks, you will experience a sunset that you will not forget in a hurry. You will round off the evening with an original Allgäu cheese fondue in the Ice Bar – surrounded by shimmering ice and the warm glow of candlelight.
Your night in the igloo
Whether as a couple in the Romantic Igloo, as a group in the spacious Dreams Igloo, or quite exclusively in the Suite with a private hot tub – there is accommodation to suit every taste. All igloos are equipped with comfortable beds, furs and high-quality thermal sleeping bags. Warmth comes from within: The temperature in the igloos is constantly around freezing, and you'll sleep surprisingly comfortably in the expedition sleeping bag. Barrel saunas under the starry sky are available for all guests to warm up in.
Your morning at 2,000 meters
In the morning, your igloo guide will wake you up with a hot cup of tea right by your ice bed. Afterwards, a hearty breakfast awaits you in the Höfatsblick mountain restaurant – with a view of the snow-covered mountains. The perfect start to a day on the slopes, snowshoeing, or simply enjoying yourself.
Good to know
The Igloo Lodge is open from the end of December to the end of March. You arrive by the Nebelhornbahn cable car from Oberstdorf – the cable car ticket is not included in the price. Warm clothes like those for skiing are recommended; we provide sleeping bags and all the igloo equipment. Our experienced guides will take care of you throughout the evening and morning.
