Diani Beach: 2-Day Tsavo East Safari with Saltlick Lodge｜Kenya

Day 1: Diani Beach to Tsavo East National Park

Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Diani Beach. Travel inland as the sun rises, and after about 3 hours, enter Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and wildest parks.

Embark on a game drive and keep an eye out for the famous red-dust elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. Take in the wide open plains and dramatic African landscapes.

Continue toward Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a smaller but wildlife-rich conservation area bordering Tsavo. Spend the night at Saltlick Safari Lodge, built on stilts overlooking natural waterholes and salt licks.

Watch as animals come to drink right in front of the lodge. You might see elephants at the waterhole, buffalo herds, antelope, and occasionally lions or hyenas. There’s even an underground hide where you can safely view animals at eye level. At night, the waterhole is lit, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

Day 2: Morning Safari and Return to Diani

Head out for a sunrise game drive when animals are most active and the light is perfect for photos. After breakfast, enjoy a short final drive before starting the journey back to Diani. Arrive in the afternoon with great safari memories.
