Product Info

Meet your guide at the Alexandra Falls parking area for a warm welcome. Before setting off, your guide will provide a safety briefing, explain the route, and answer any questions about the adventure ahead.

Begin your hike along peaceful forest trails leading to a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the wild southern landscapes of Mauritius. Take in sweeping views of the island's mountains, forests, and coastline while your guide introduces the region's volcanic origins and unique ecosystems.

Continue through one of Mauritius' last remaining native upland forests towards the top of Cascades 500 Pieds. Wander beneath a canopy of endemic trees while learning about the island's remarkable biodiversity. Keep an eye—and ear—out for some of Mauritius' rare endemic birds, which are often seen and heard in this pristine habitat.

Leave the forest behind as you descend along technical trails into the heart of the valley. Surrounded by lush vegetation and dramatic volcanic scenery, your guide will point out native flora, explain the island's volcanic history, and share fascinating stories about the unique ecosystems of Mauritius.

Arrive at the base of the magnificent Cascades 500 Pieds, one of Mauritius' most spectacular waterfalls. As very few visitors make it to the bottom of the falls, you'll often have this breathtaking spot almost entirely to yourselves. Take time to admire the impressive cascade, capture memorable photos, and, if you wish, enjoy a refreshing swim in one of the natural pools before beginning the return hike.

Begin the rewarding ascent back to Alexandra Falls parking area, retracing the scenic trail through the native forest while enjoying new perspectives of the surrounding wilderness. Return to the meeting point for a short debrief before saying goodbye.
