Product Info

Step into the colorful, flowing world of traditional Ebru art — an ancient technique of painting on water that offers something rare: a creative experience that's just as calming as it is expressive.

Guided by a professional Ebru artist, use brushes, natural pigments, and special water techniques to create two original artworks of your own, each one entirely unique and yours to take home at the end of the session.

Learn about Ebru, sometimes known as "the art of clouds" or paper marbling, a centuries-old technique in which natural pigments are carefully dropped onto a specially thickened water surface, then shaped, swirled, and guided using thin brushes and delicate tools.

Once the design takes form on the water, a sheet of paper is gently laid across the surface, lifting the pattern away in a single, irreversible motion. No two Ebru pieces are ever quite the same — the water moves in its own way each time, meaning every artwork carries a bit of unplanned beauty and individuality that can't be replicated.

There's something genuinely meditative about watching color spread and swirl across water before it becomes something permanent. Many participants describe the process as deeply relaxing — the slow, careful movements of the brush, the unpredictability of the water, and the quiet focus required all combine to create a kind of creative mindfulness that's rare to find in everyday life. It's less about technical precision and more about following the rhythm of the water and letting the colors guide you.

Throughout the class, a professional Ebru artist guides you step by step — from preparing your pigments and understanding how they behave on water, to shaping your first patterns and eventually composing a finished piece. The instructor works closely with each participant, adjusting guidance to your comfort level and encouraging you to experiment rather than worry about getting it "right." By the end of the session, you'll have created two individual Ebru artworks, each shaped entirely by your own hand and your own choices along the way.

Beyond the hands-on artwork itself, you'll also learn about the history behind Ebru, its traditional techniques, and the cultural significance it holds — giving you a deeper appreciation for the craft beyond simply the finished product. It's an experience that blends storytelling, technique, and creativity into a single, memorable hour.

This workshop is designed to be fully accessible, regardless of your artistic background. No previous experience with Ebru or painting in general is required — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Whether you've always been curious about traditional art forms or you're simply looking for a relaxing, hands-on activity during your time in Baku, this class welcomes complete beginners just as warmly as those with some artistic experience.
