Qinling giant pandas are quite different from those in Chengdu, Sichuan:
Unique Appearance
Locals nickname them “cat-bears” for their feline agility. They have lighter fur with a U-shaped black chest patch, while Sichuan pandas feature a V-shaped mark. With round faces, chubby cheeks, shorter snouts and no prominent nose bridge, they look extra cute and compact. Adults are also 5–10 kg lighter in weight, more nimble and perfectly adapted to Qinling’s rugged terrain. Notably, Qizai, the world’s only brown giant panda, lives here.
Strong Environmental AdaptabilityShaped by Qinling’s cold winters and rich bamboo resources, they have a flexible diet feeding on arrow bamboo and local Bashania fargesii, and they mainly eat bamboo stems in winter.Thicker fur gives them great cold tolerance, allowing them to stay active even at -10°C.
Rare & Precious PopulationThey have a low wild reproduction rate, and captive breeding requires an environment identical to Qinling’s natural habitat. Every Qinling giant panda is extremely valuable to species conservation.
Spend 2–3 hours exploring the reserve at your own pace. Besides lovely giant pandas, you can also spot rare local wildlife including golden takins, crested ibises and golden snub-nosed monkeys.
After the panda park tour, your private guide and driver will transfer you directly back to your downtown hotel.
