Experience dyeing a tote bag using the "Shin-Manyo-zome" dyeing technique. You can easily experience the basics of dyeing, including gradients and tie-dyeing. Why not try dyeing as a memento of your visit to Kyoto? ~Schedule for the day~ The experience will begin as soon as you are ready. (5 minutes) You will receive a brief lecture before starting the experience. (20 minutes) You will decide on the color scheme and technique to dye. (35 minutes) You will actually dye the material and experience "Shin-Manyo-zome" dyeing. (50 minutes)
What is "Shin-Manyo-zome"?
"Shin-Manyo-zome" uses natural materials such as madder root and marigold petals as dyes. It is basically the same as "plant dyeing" using natural dyes, but a characteristic of "Shin-Manyo-zome" is that it can produce vibrant colors in a short amount of time.
