Product Info

Melbourne looks different before 9am. The trams are starting their runs, the vendors are setting out their stalls, and the coffee machines are warming up for the first customers of the day. This small-group morning tour takes two hours and covers the city the way locals know it before the tourists arrive.

Your morning starts at a local café, where your guide will take you through the Melbourne coffee ritual, including the off-menu local special that does not appear on any menu board and that most visitors leave the city without ever discovering.

From the café, you walk to Queen Victoria Market, the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere. Your guide knows the vendors and the stories behind the stalls. A stop at American Donut Kitchen, the market's iconic doughnut stand, is a Melbourne morning ritual you will not skip.

Next, the tram. Melbourne runs its 19th-century carriages as working public transport, and the sound of the tram is part of the city's morning. You board one and ride through the city centre before ducking through a hidden riverside tunnel to emerge alongside the ancient Yarra River.

A brief visit to the National Gallery of Victoria, one of Australia's preeminent arts institutions, gives way to a quiet moment at the Shrine of Remembrance, a pyramidion built with the Melbourne city plan in mind.

The tour finishes with the option to visit the Royal Botanic Gardens, one of Melbourne's finest green spaces, before the morning is over.

Maximum 12 guests. Expert local guide. Departs 8:30am, Monday to Sunday. Not available on Victorian public holidays. Available from 15 November 2026.
