Product Info

When people think of Tokashiki Island, they think of the 'ocean'. It is often assumed to be an island only for marine sports. However, that is not the case. Tokashiki Island is also full of charm in its mountains. Seasonal flora and fauna can be seen throughout the year. Hiking while taking in the views of the 'Tokashiki Blue' sea and the mountains is a unique way to enjoy Tokashiki Island. Please relax and spend time in the nature of Tokashiki Island. At 'begin', we offer three hiking courses for everyone.
Hiking Course A (approx. 5 km)
This course starts from the summit of 'Mt. Akama', the highest peak in the Kerama Islands, and descends along the forest road on the west side of Tokashiki Island. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the neighboring Zamami Village islands (the inhabited Zamami Island, Aka Island, Geruma Island, and many uninhabited islands). It is characterized by a higher density of 'Kanhi-zakura' (Taiwan cherry blossoms) which bloom in full in February, as well as 'Ryukyu wild strawberries' and 'Japanese bayberries' compared to other courses.
Hiking Course B (approx. 4 km)
This course starts from Tokashiku Beach Park and heads toward the Teruyama Observatory. Among the three courses, this one features the most continuous steep slopes. It is characterized by an abundance of 'Kerama azaleas' that bloom from February to March and 'hibiscus' that bloom all year round. The Teruyama Observatory is a 'begin' top-recommended scenic spot where you can see not only the mountains and the sea, but also a panoramic view of Tokashiku Beach, Aharen Beach, and the islands of Zamami Village!
Hiking Course C (approx. 1 km)
This course allows you to enjoy the area around 'Hinakushi', the southernmost tip of Tokashiki Island, and the eastern beach. It is the shortest of the courses, and is characterized by a leisurely experience where you can not only see the scenery and plants but also spend time on the beach.
