Chibi Maruko-chan Land, located in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City— the Furusato of the author Momoko Sakura—is Japan's only permanent museum dedicated to the "Chibi Maruko-chan" series. The museum faithfully recreates many classic scenes, such as "Momoko Sakura's House," where Maruko lives; "Classroom 3-4," where Maruko goes to school; and the familiar shopping street from the series, making visitors feel as if they are stepping into Maruko's daily life.
Besides scene recreations, visitors can also admire the artist's original handwritten manuscripts and animation materials at "Sakura Momoko Gallery" to understand the creative process behind the work. The park also features areas for renting character costumes for photos, sand painting, and pyrography experiences, as well as "Mitsuya," a confectionery shop featured in the work, operating in a traditional confectionery shop format, cleverly blending the story with reality (some experiences require additional payment; please refer to on-site announcements for details).
It's also very convenient to get there; it's about a 10-minute free shuttle bus ride from JR Shimizu Station, making it a great option for a half-day or full-day trip to Shimizu.
3 Years, 4 Classrooms: The classroom scene of the elementary school that Chibi Maruko-chan attended is realistically recreated, making you feel like a member of the class and enjoy this fun-filled time together!
Sakura Family Daily Life 4-Panel Comic: Authentically recreating each room of the Sakura family home, allowing viewers to experience the nostalgic atmosphere of the Chibi Maruko-chan era. Follow the dialogue as you move from room to room, enjoying the story as if reading a 4-panel comic.
Chibi Maruko-chan Shrine: A shrine said to bring good luck after a visit. The fortune slips inside the shrine are all newly drawn and written by Momoko Sakura herself, making them very unique and heartwarming, full of positive energy.
Maruko-chan and the Dream Tram: Displaying a 3D model of "Maruko-chan and the Dream Tram". This recreates a scene from the opening sequence of the anime, where Maruko and her friends ride the tram. Where will it take them?
