Stroll through one of Europe’s longest pedestrian areas in the Old Town and enjoy the wonderful mix of old and new buildings, narrow streets, market squares, shops, restaurants, and museums. See the University, Germany’s oldest and one of the world’s oldest, and find out more about its foundation in 1386. See the Student Jail, where students were held for minor offenses. They were still allowed to attend classes but had to go back to jail after.
