- Rokko Shidare Observatory
Located within the Rokko Garden Terrace area, this observatory features a distinctive and impressive design. Based on the concept by architect Hiroshi Sambuichi that 'architecture is a part of the earth,' it offers not only a panoramic view of Osaka and Kobe—a landscape renowned throughout Japan—but also provides a space where visitors can experience the natural energy of Mt. Rokko and the beauty of the changes brought about by its natural cycles.
This observation deck, with its distinctive and imposing design, offers one of Japan's best viewpoints, providing panoramic views from Awaji Island to the Osaka Plain and Kansai International Airport.
Made using cypress wood, it envelops you in the gentle scent of cypress.
Lightscape in Rokko Plants
This is a light event that uses LED lighting capable of displaying over 10 million colors to illuminate the entire observation deck from the inside, creating a light that is as close to natural light as possible.
Winter scenery observation deck
The average annual temperature on Mount Rokko is roughly the same as that of southern Hokkaido, and when the weather conditions such as humidity, temperature, and wind speed are just right, you can sometimes see crystallized rime ice covering the entire frame of the cypress trees.
At night, you can enjoy the million-dollar night view of Kobe.
Rokko Garden Terrace, which has an observation deck, features several restaurants and shops where you can enjoy seasonal cuisine and shopping.
