The Wufeng Lin family accumulated considerable wealth in the 1890s by controlling the entire camphor export business in Taiwan. Subsequently, the Lin family transformed into a family of arts and culture. After Lin Chaodong's camphor business reached its peak, his cousin Lin Xian-tang took over as the family patriarch. He and his father, Lin Wen-chin, had a strong interest in literature, drama, and art. They jointly founded Taichung First Senior High School and also focused on the decoration and cultural development of the Lin family's architecture.

Wufeng offers many enjoyable places to visit, including the scenic Ganxi Bicycle Path, the art-filled National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Hall, the Wanfeng Huanshan Trail perfect for hiking, and the beautiful Azhuzhuo Cherry and Azalea Trail. Additionally, the Legislator's Hall (Yi Lu Hall) within the Legislative Yuan Democracy Park provides an opportunity to understand local politics and history.

It is recommended to allocate 1 to 3 hours for visiting the Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden. If you choose to join a guided tour, it will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of its historical architecture and exquisite details. If you wish to explore more in-depth, it is advisable to allow more time and participate in the approximately 50-minute free guided tour for a richer visiting experience.

The Wufeng District was formerly known as 'Azhuzhuo,' a name derived from the 'Azhuzhuo Village' (Ataabu) of the Pingpu tribe's Maoluo community. Another theory suggests the local mountain peaks were often shrouded in mist, hence the name. Regarding the origin of 'Wufeng,' one account states that in 1920, the Japanese renamed 'Azhuzhuo' to 'Wufeng.' Another theory attributes the name to Qing Dynasty official Liu Mingchuan, who, during his inspection of central Taiwan, found the original place name inelegant and poetically renamed it 'Wufeng' to signify the clouds and mist lingering around the local mountain tops.

Besides the renowned Lin Family Mansion and Garden, Wufeng boasts rich natural and cultural landscapes. You can cycle along the Ganxi Bicycle Path to enjoy the scenery, or enjoy hiking on the Wanfeng Huanshan Trail. If you are interested in music and culture, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Hall is a great choice. Furthermore, the Azhuzhuo Cherry and Azalea Trail is exceptionally beautiful during the flower season, and the Legislative Yuan Democracy Park allows you to learn about Taiwan's democratic development.
