Begin your experience with an introduction to honeybees, beekeeping equipment, hive safety, and the important role bees play in agriculture and our food supply. Suit up in protective beekeeping gear before visiting the active bee hives with an experienced beekeeper.
Wear a real beekeeper suit and enter the working apiary. See an active honeybee colony up close and learn how a hive is organized and how bees make and store honey. See the queen, brood, pollen, and honey when hive conditions allow. Hold a working frame containing live honeybees under direct supervision.
For willing guests, experience a memorable “bee on your finger” moment, where a honeybee is carefully allowed to climb onto your finger and taste a small amount of honey. Ask questions directly to an experienced beekeeper.
After visiting the bees, learn how harvested honey goes from the hive to the finished products made at Honey Badgers Bee Farm. Depending on production schedules, see portions of the honey processing and manufacturing operation and learn about raw honey, infused honey, creamed honey, honey teas, and other specialty honey products.
The experience also includes a guided honey tasting featuring several varieties and flavors produced by Honey Badgers Bee Farm. Learn how different floral sources and ingredients change the taste, color, and character of honey.
Honey Badgers is also a working farm, so you may have an opportunity to visit and feed some of the other animals, including chickens, turkeys, ducks, fish, and the resident pig, Kevin Bacon.
At the end of the experience, visit the farm store, the Badger Trading Post, where Honey Badgers honey, specialty honey products, gifts, and fishing products are available for purchase.
