FIRST PART: Experience at the castle of Rocca Calascio. When medieval history is combined with the fantasy of a film, the result is a magical atmosphere. What was a castle consisting of the actual fortress and the adjacent medieval village at an altitude of 1464 meters became an ideal set for the movie "Ladyhawke".

Rocca Calascio's strategic position between the Campo Imperatore plateau (the set of many films, including "They Call Me Trinity") and the plateaus below of Navelli (famous for its saffron) and Tirino offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama.

Due to its completely medieval character, it was chosen as the set for famous films in addition to Ladyhawke (with Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer), Amici miei – atto II°, La piovra 7, and The American (with G. Clooney)

The visit to the small medieval village is suitable for everyone, but to reach the fortress you need to be a good walker (what can be described as a short climb among rocks is not recommended for people who are too elderly).

In summer, cars CANNOT reach the gates of the village but must be parked in the town of Calascio, where there is a PAID shuttle service run by the municipality.

The hike to the village is suitable for all. The visit to the Rock is recommended only for those in good physical condition.

N.B. It cannot be done in case of rain 1 or 2 days before the visit due to the slipperiness of the route to the fortress. There will be a full refund in these cases.

SECOND PART: Experience in the medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessani, the outpost of the "De' Medici" among the peaks of Abruzzo. This is by far one of the most evocative villages in Abruzzo, located at 1250 meters in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. It is nestled among the highest peaks in Abruzzo in a truly unique natural position with a panorama that is often called the "Tibet" of Abruzzo. The village was fortified by the famous "De' Medici" family of Florence and has been preserved almost intact as it was in the 14th century. The village is built entirely of white limestone, whose whiteness has become opaque over time.

Slowly, with a non-touristy approach, we will enter the village through its narrow medieval streets to experience a suspended moment, enveloped in a fairytale atmosphere. Along the route, we will come across "shops" run by artisans where we can spend time amidst intoxicating scents and colors.

OPTIONAL: The traditions and flavors of Abruzzo.
At lunch, you can sample local products, such as cheeses produced a few kilometers away, cold cuts, bread, and baked goods, accompanied by a glass of Abruzzo wine. Select the option before completing your booking.
