Meet your guide right in front of the tourist information office in the city center of Szczecin and start with a small introduction to the history of the city.
From there, you will pass the King's Gate, an impressive Baroque structure from the Prussian fortress architecture of the 18th century, and continue on to Solidarity Square – a central place of remembrance with the monument to the victims of December 1970. Right next to it is the National Museum of Szczecin – Dialogue Center "Przełomy", which deals intensively with Poland's turbulent post-war history and the path from communism to freedom and democracy.
Next, you will marvel at the award-winning modern architecture of the Szczecin Philharmonic, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. After that, the walking tour takes you to the Chrobry Wall Complex, where a spectacular panoramic view of the Odra River, the harbor, and the river islands awaits you. On the way, you will see the 12th-century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, the oldest church in Szczecin, which impressively reflects the city's medieval roots.
Another highlight is the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes, once the residence of the ruling dynasty. Here you will learn more about Szczecin's princely, royal, and Hanseatic past. After that, you will head to the Old Town, where colorful town houses surround the Old Town Hall and the Sienna Market Square, reminding you of Szczecin's long tradition as an important trading city.
At the end, you will see the impressive St. James Cathedral, the tallest church in Poland. Originally medieval, destroyed in World War II and later rebuilt, it is now considered a powerful symbol of Szczecin's resilience and reconstruction.
