Escape the mass tourism and the bustle of the French Riviera. In just moments, this train whisks you from the coast to the heart of the Alpine peaks.
Our professional tour guide will reveal the secrets of one of France’s most incredible railway lines, featuring majestic viaducts, tunnels, and architectural wonders.
We will explore two medieval villages — true labyrinths of narrow streets steeped in history and legend — boasting a Baroque heritage unique to France, dotted with hidden chapels, cathedrals, and monasteries. After the scenic train ride, a private shuttle will provide easy access between villages along spectacular mountain roads.
Breathe in the fresh Alpine air during off-the-beaten-path walks through perched villages and their hidden treasures. Experience the luxury of being moments from the Mediterranean while standing at the gateway to the Mercantour National Park and its mysterious Valley of Wonders.
A guided tour of the Franciscan Monastery is included (⚠️ fairly steep climb, possibility to skip it if too sporty) or enjoy extra free time to explore this village—miraculously clinging to the mountainside "between sky and earth" and ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.
In the second village, depending on day and itinerary chosen by the guide: you will have the opportunity to visit another charming Old Town nestled in the Alps and:
- visit a labyrinthical medieval village, the romantic ruins of a medieval castle, stunning baroque monuments, take a dip in the fresh river (if so bring swimsuit & towel)
- a short hiking option to see more spectacular breathtaking views
- depending on the day the visit of the Sistine Chapel of the Alps with XVth c. Frescoes and Temple dedicated to the sources
You will also have the chance to explore ancient castle ruins, vestiges of a tumultuous past shaped by glory and war (French and Italian history, Napoleon, WWII).
Excellent lunch at a local restaurant included.
Return to Nice by train at 7:00 PM (option Lavender Farm with return at 9:00 PM).
The itinerary can change depending on weather, transport schedules, and unforeseen events
